Culture Clash Happy Hour Series Opens at HandleBar

November 8, 2021 By Jason Baker

Join us this Thursday evening, 11/11/21, for the first installment of our Culture Clash Happy Hour series at HandleBar in the Grove!  RSVP here!

The locations we selected (HandleBar, Pan D’Olive, Trattoria Toscana) for our inaugural event series are immigrant-owned.  These are just three of thousands of immigrant-established businesses in our backyard to choose from. The stats show that welcoming support for immigrants and refugees is the key factor for a vibrant, flourishing society – economically, socially, technologically, environmentally, and culturally.  At Bilingual International Assistant Services, we exist to smooth the pathway for immigrants and refugees who may struggle initially to locate and benefit from resources.  Our goal is to help all newcomers to the region acclimate, thrive, and continue to propel St. Louis forward – as immigrants always have.

Join us, share a drink, and meet great people.  You’ll also hear some powerful stories of how the business owners have made St. Louis their home and the investment for their future…and ours!  Let us know to expect you on Thursday or for our future events!

Cheers!

We are very pleased to announce that our trauma-focused counseling program for migrant and refugee youth, Project Safe Space, has been renewed for Core Cycle Funding by the St. Louis County Children's Service Fund (CSF) through 2026. Safe Space was created as a pilot project in the Ritenour School District with the support of CSF and we're proud to continue our work together for St. Louis County families. #stlcsf ... This past weekend, we held our Annual Senior Center Picnic in Tower Grove Park. Over 150 seniors attended with their families. They sang karaoke, learned Tai Chi, played games, ate great food, but most of all, they connected with one another!Bilingual's Macklind International Senior Center is a place for seniors from four different cultures to gather and find community- the 2023 picnic was no exception! Thank you to all of our volunteers and staff for making this possible. We're already looking forward to next year and what karaoke songs it will bring! Thanks to our sponsors and funders for helping make this event possible: St. Louis Area Agency on Aging, St. Louis City Senior Fund, Missouri CLAIM, Steve's Hot Dogs, Arber Café and Dad's Cookie Company! ...
