Second Annual Trivia Night – Thank You!

November 14, 2018 By Liliya Joseph

Saturday, Nov. 3 was Bilingual International’s second annual Trivia Night – and we sold out!  Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brentwood was gracious enough to provide the venue (special thanks to Pastor Will Hanke and Tracy Sanchez).   Our Board of Directors and stalwart volunteer corps provided the labor, and the brain trust of Refugee Services Coordinator Ron Klutho and Executive Director Jason Baker was to blame for the questions.  Guests tried their trivia knowledge in a variety of internationally-themed categories including such obscurities as Polish movie posters of Hollywood films.  A good time was had by all, despite the St. Louis tradition of treating trivia as bloodsport, and we were able to raise funds for our work with foreign-born populations in the area.

Rounds were sponsored by our friends at Berix Coffee Restaurant, Bilingual In-Home Assistant Services, and Moskal Realty; attendees enjoyed delicious beer donated by our neighbors down the street at Urban Chestnut Brewing Company.  During our silent auction, participants had a chance bid on a variety  items, including  an almost indecent array of libations, St. Louis Reperatory Theatre tickets, gift certificates to Bulrush, Meramec Sharks, Das Bevo, The Book House, Gianinos, Himalayan Yeti, Dierbergs, Llwewlyn’s, The Haven, Three Kings Public House, Maggie O’Briens, Rosalitas, Global Foods, Bartolinos, CJ Muggs, Pietros, Salt and Smoke, McArthurs Bakery, Memamec Vineyards, and the infamous and never disappointing Mystery Box.  Thank you so much to the organizations that sponsored and donated items!

Our gratitude goes out to all family, friends and supporters who participated in this fun event.  Special thanks to volunteers and our dedicated Board of Directors for making the night happen.  Extra special thanks need to be extended to the following: Lauren Willmann, Savannah Martin, Clara Donovan, Roy Kioko, Elizabeth Carty, Sierra Zhang, and Vy Nguyen (table runners), Emily Brorby and Dane Muckler (registration and cashier), Cristie Baker, Ron Klutho (judges), and Susan Marting (bar).

We hope to see everyone again next year!
