Thanks for Making Our Trivia Night a Success!

November 13, 2017 By Jason Baker

Our first annual Bilingual International Trivia Night brought together all the brightest and the most globally-minded individuals into the Ethical Society of St. Louis on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Despite the flurry of last-minute preparations, the event proved to be a great success with over 150  players. Guests tried their trivia knowledge in a variety of categories including World Leaders, International Cuisine, Flags, etc.  Competition was – as per St. Louis tradition – intense, but a good time was had by all, and we were able to raise some funds for direct services with foreign-born populations in our region.

Two rounds were sponsored by our friends at Oliver C Joseph Inc. and Bi-Lingual In-Home Assistant Services; attendees enjoyed delicious beer donated by our neighbors down the street at Urban Chestnut Brewing Company.  During our silent auction, participants had a chance bid on a variety  items, including  gift certificates to Kaldi’s, Left Bank Books, Infinity Design Salon, the Cyclebar, Big Shark Bicycle Company, Sameem Afghan Restaurant and Mango Restaurant, Painting with a Twist, The Royale, Savor St. Louis Food tours, Three Dog Bakery, Seema Enterprises, Plowsharing Crafts, a variety of international spirits, and Missouri wines and tastings from Bardenheier Wine Cellars, Three Squirrels Winery, Heinrichshaus, and Just a Taste – St. James.  Thank you so much to the organizations that sponsored and donated items!

Our gratitude goes out to all family, friends and supporters who participated in this fun event.  Special thanks to volunteers and our dedicated Board of Directors for making the night happen.  Extra special thanks need to be extended to the following: Kristina Heron, Aidan Martin, Savannah Martin, and Elizabeth Carty (table runners), Elva Moreno del Rio (door and silent auction), Cristie Baker, Ron Klutho, Anita Santiago (judges), and Susan Marting (bar).

The United Way of Greater St. Louis Safety Net of local nonprofit agencies helps one out of every three residents in our region. THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE, and it includes many of us on staff here at Bilingual International. Which is part of the reason why we are proud to host - for the second year now - an admittedly modest employee contribution campaign to support the same Safety Net that funds our work.
