The St. Louis Civil Rights Enforcement Agency hosted their first conference in September, 2014. The conference focused on the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” proposed rule which will undoubtedly change the way communities actualize fair housing.

Conference panelist were a blend of knowledgeable and seasoned professionals who discussed fair housing obstacles in the areas of transportation, disability issues, senior accommodations and housing for immigrants and refugee populations. As a city and region, it is clear that a concerted and informed effort must be made to address the fair housing needs of all our residents.

The conference concludes with a review of funding resource information from federal, state and local agencies addressing the application process, deadlines and how much may be available.
