In order to achieve the outcomes that doctors want and patients
expect all parties must be able to communicate effectively and clearly
understand each other from explaining symptoms and potential
treatments, to relaying medication allergies and instructions for
follow-up care. Many health care experts believe that assessing and
improving the language services offered to patients in America's
hospitals will not only improve communications, but can significantly
improve the quality of patient care. Join our team in creating a program geared toward ensuring both adherence to the CLAS standards set forth by the Federal Government, and improved access to health care. Funded by Missouri Foundation for Health, CLAS Standards At Work program aims to provide 400 free professional interpretive hours to one hundred elderly individuals in need of medical care. Those who are interested in applying to the program should contact Dianna Fazio at (314) 692-9010.
Together, we can make a difference. Please, tell your state representative that you want the state to put forth professional guidelines for the interpreters, that you want the providers to use qualified language assistance, and that there is a way to do it through Matching Funds from the Federal Government. Join our team in leading CLAS Standards at work program!
We are exited to anounce the launch of Bilingualstl.org
Our new website will serve as a portal for our partners to have access to updated information regarding new programs and the directions of BIAS. We can now discuss new programs, offer people direct feeds to our blog including an RSS option making it possible to receive news updates from Bilingual on your telephones or PDA's. Also, it is now more convenient to donate than ever right on own website.
