Bilingual International received confirmation this week of approval for agency membership in the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT).  The IRCT is a Copenhagen-based global network of torture rehabilitation centers from over 70 countries; it is the world’s largest membership-based civil society organization specialized in the field of health-based torture rehabilitation.  The organization is a global leader in the fight against torture and the care of its victims.  As the Office of Refugee Resettlement grantee for rehabilitative services to Survivors of Torture (and as overseen by the St. Louis Mental Health Board), Bilingual International is proud to take this important step toward specialization of services and carrying on the legacy of the St. Louis Center for Survivors of Torture and War Trauma.  Under the leadership of Katie Kilcline, LCSW and Katrina Orlet, LCSW, we look forward to the coming year of continued participation in the IRCT network and to continuing to provide wrap-around case management, mental health, legal, and psychiatric services to survivors of state-sanctioned torture residing in the St. Louis area.
